Cart Gap sand martins

Sand martins spend their winters south of the Sahara, and in summer as many as 250,000 make their way to the UK to nest and breed. Some 300 pairs nested at Cart Gap in 2009 (they nest on the cliffs here every year).

Facilities and parking: There is a car park at Cart Gap, and a new cafe opened in 2009.

Loction: Just south of Happisburgh and north of Lessingham on the Norfolk Coast, north east of Norwich.
