Umm Tais National Park, Qatar's first, opens to public.

Umm Tais National Park, consisting of a few small islands surrounded by mudflats on the north-eastern tip of Qatar, has been opened as Qatar's first National Park. The park will provide significant environmental, educational, and recreational opportunities and a place where visitors will be able to observe a variety of avian and marine life. It presently hosts two well developed mangrove forests and an important turtle nesting beach.

The variety of landscape features, geological structures, changing water levels, current patterns and land building processes have led to a high diversity of flora and fauna on the Islands.
