Wildlife Garden - By Martyn Cox in conjunction with the Royal Horticultural Society.

As Christmas approaches, there will be plenty of books appearing and many will be aimed at the kids market. Many parents are hoping that something will drag the kids away from the plethora of screens that are such a large part of modern day life, and this book might just help. There are plenty of books and advice about wildlife gardening, but few aimed so well at a younger audience (4-10 ish). There are many ideas as to what can be done, even if you only have a window box, and costing no more than a used juice carton or an old wellie or flower pot.

For the rights kids, this book will tick several boxes for parents:-
- Encourage them to read
- Give them something constructive and educational to do
- Create, or satisfy an existing, interest in nature and conservation
- Get them outside occasionally.

There are 34 short and vividly illustrated

1. Things to plant (for butterflies, bees, in water etc)
2. Things to watch (Pond dipping, small mammals)

chapters, split into 3-4 different topics.

3. Things to do. By far the biggest and best, including gems such as how to make:-
a. A stag beetle bucket
b. A snail race track
c. Butterfly house
d. Bee hotel
e. Ladybird sanctuary
f. Mini nature reserve
g. Owl nesting boot
h. Newt pyramid
i. Flowerpot bird house
j. Wormery
k. Moth catcher
l. Bird bathroom

And many more.
