Learn more about the fascinating world of moths with experts from the Lancaster Moth Group. Booking and payment in advance essential for the moth breakfast that runs from 8 - 10 am. Cost: £8 (£7 RSPB members) including cooked breakfast. A drop in session will also be available afterwards from 10 am - 12 noon for anyone not booked on the event that wishes to see what's been caught.

Silverdale and Arnside art and craft trail

Open Studios, exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations in both these two beautiful AONB villages. Binoculars and telescopes demonstration

An opportunity to try out binoculars, telescopes and digi-scoping and receive impartial advice. Free admission to the demonstration

Booming bitterns!: evening meal and talk
Tuesday 16 November (7 - 9.30 pm)
Simon Wotton, conservation scientist for the RSPB will tell us about the wonderful story of the recent recovery of the bittern throughout the UK as well as highlighting some possible future threats. Simon has been running the annual bittern monitoring programme since 2005 and is passionate about these very special birds. Beforehand, enjoy a two course home-cooked meal (a pre-booked veggie option is available and B.Y.O bottle). Booking and payment in advance essential. Cost: £16 (RSPB members £14).

Art course: creating winter wildlife art
Saturday 20 November (11 am-4 pm)
A relaxing day with wildlife artist Marianne Birkby, using objects and mixed media, including acrylics. Booking and payment in advance essential. All materials and lunch provided. Cost: £25 (RSPB members £23).

Birding for beginners: ducking and diving
Sunday 21 November (8 - 10.30 am)
Join us on a guided walk to learn more about wetland birds, with tips on identification and advice about birdwatching, followed by a bacon or veggie bap and a tea or coffee at 10.30 am. No experience necessary. Booking and payment in advance essential. Cost £8 (RSPB members £6).

Wednesday walkabout: Winter magic
Wednesday 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 December (11 am - 1 pm)
Winter is a magical time of year at Leighton Moss and maybe a good chance to see some of our more secretive wildlife. Cost: RSPB members: adults £2, children £1, family £4, non-members: adults £4.50, children £2, family £9. No need to book.

Feathered Friendships
Friday 3 December (10.30 am onwards)
On your own and fancy having a more sociable time at Leighton Moss? Then
during your visit why not meet up with other nature lovers and form some new feathered friendships while you explore our nature trails together. Meet at the main entrance door of the visitor centre at 10.30 am - then get your entry pass to the reserve before going to the cafe, watching some wildlife, or whatever takes your fancy!

Leighton Moss Wildlife Explorers Club
Saturday 4 December 10 am - 12 noon
Our Leighton Moss Wildlife Explorer Club is a great way to find out more about all that crawls, flutters and even slithers! With games, wild days out and more. Leighton Moss sketch club
Saturday 4 December
Join us to sketch (doodle and scribble) the wonderful birds and wildlife. The club is untutored, just bring along your own doodling equipment to take out with you on the reserve. Costs: Free for RSPB members, £3 group entry charge for non- members. All Welcome! Christmas meal
