Butterflies of Greenway Gardens
Butterflies of Greenway Gardens
Agatha Christie's family collected butterflies and moths here. Good for migrants like Clouded Yellow, Painted Lady and Red Admiral in high summer. Silver-washed Fritillary visits in July and August, and the rare day-flying Jersey Tiger moth is regularly seen in August.
Location: Greenway House and Gardens are located down some tiny country lanes, and there is no parking spaces available at the site. By far the best way to get there is by ferry (Greenway has its own jetty!) from Dartmouth or Dittisham. If cycling or travelling by road, (NB there are no parking spaces on the narrow country lanes leading to Greenway), there are no brown signs, so follow signs for Greenway Ferry/YHA.
